Red Earth
A hundred years ago this beautiful place must've been hell on earth.
The lodes of tin and copper were about twice as pure as anywhere else in Cornwall but they went almost straight down (350 fathoms down) and right out under the North Atlantic. Some people got very rich and a lot more people risked and lost their lives fighting for and winning the metal from the earth.
The whole place is still stained red with haematite.
